SALSNES FILTERS

The Salsnes Filter system was developed in rural Norway to address the need to provide compact primary sewage treatment. It has been widely implemented across Europe (especially Scandinavia). Salsnes North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aqua-Pure Ventures, has built awareness of the technology across North America over the past ten years and recently installed two units apiece in Kelowna and Ladysmith, British Columbia.

The Salsnes Filter incorporates an endless mesh screen, moving upwards in a continual motion, concurrent with the influent flow. Four unique models can be easily implemented into new plants or combined with existing technology to provide primary wastewater treatment at facilities of any size. The technology is equivalent or superior to conventional primary sedimentation for both BOD and TSS reduction. In addition to providing primary treatment, Salsnes Filters also dewater the sludge produced to create an easy-to-handle solid by-product.

The filters are successfully operating in cruise ship applications, aqua culture, food processing and municipal wastewater treatment plants, in addition to several pilot projects underway in other industries.
