FAYETTEVILLE SHALE (Arkansas)

The Fayetteville Shale is one of the ten largest gas fields in the United States, underlying roughly 4,000 square miles of north/central Arkansas. It is estimated to hold as much as 20 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

The area offers relatively poor disposal options, and there is limited need for fresh water. Since landfarming operations have been shutdown across the state, wastewater now must be hauled long distances.

Aqua-Pure has secured the first and only NPDES permit in Arkansas that allows discharge of treated Fayetteville Shale flowback and produced water into state waters. The company is preparing to move three NOMAD evaporators to Arkansas, where we are targeting 95% recovery of distilled water from Fayetteville Shale wastewater, which has relatively low concentrations of total dissolved solids.
