MUNICIPAL WATER TREATMENT

The Salsnes Filter system was developed in rural Norway to address the need to provide compact primary sewage treatment. Salsnes North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aqua-Pure Ventures, recently installed Salsnes units at the municipal wastewater treatment plants in Kelowna and Ladysmith, British Columbia.

The Salsnes Filter incorporates an endless mesh screen, moving upwards in a continual motion, concurrent with the influent flow. Four unique models can be easily implemented into new plants or combined with existing technology to provide primary wastewater treatment at facilities of any size. The technology is equivalent or superior to conventional primary sedimentation for both BOD and TSS reduction.

In addition to providing primary treatment, Salsnes Filters also dewater the sludge produced to create an easy-to-handle solid by-product.
